Update for Thursday the 21st,

Chris has now finished 12 hyperbaric treatments and will skip Thursday as he is off to see Jack Johnson with Shelley tonight. Being a Jack fan hope it triggers a few memories for him and gets him rocking even a little bit.
Chris will be at Hyperbaric chamber on Friday from 230 pm to 630 pm in all likelyhood not back till 700 pm. Saturday morning he will be leaving at 730 for chamber at 900 till 1130 should be back around lunch time.
On Sunday Shelley is taking him out for the afternoon gone at 100 pm for the rest of the day.
Monday he will be at Physio/Massage at 10 am and to the dentist at 200 pm then off to the Chamber for 400 pm.

We have been seeing little changes in what he is doing and his attention, some of this is from others who have not seen him for a while as they would notice more of a change.
We will have more info on treatment in Alberta in a week or two and will fill you in as it happens.

Got run right now hope to get into a regular routine here before long, I now you all understand how precious time is right now.

Monday August 18, 2008

Hey there all,
A few days have passed since last update so lets get to it.
Chris has ungone his 9th hyperbaric treatment 10th will happen today at 4:00 PM. By next Saturday he will have15 sessions. I am asking the neurologist we have been dealing with to check Chris out every 10-15 visits for changes. If any of yo go up to see him and notice things that you didnt before please let us know as the little things tend to get missed when we see him everyday.
We are still waiting for a massage therapist that can handle the chair and also has all the equipment needed to handle Chris so we can proceed.
I have been thinking allot about taking Chris to the pool to get a different sensation and movement but the setting up and planning is not easy. Uncle Larry got a number of a place in Aldergrove that deals with Aqua therapy and they have all the equipment and personal to get him in and do some water stretching and movements will let you know as it progresses.

The facility in Alberta that specializes in brain injuries has agreed to take Chris on a trial basis to see if they can give and do what the hospital and doctors here should have been doing. Basiscally they will try everything that could hanve been done here so Chris could stay close to home, family and friends. It really pisses me off to have to even think of it as a possibility but they specialize in these injuries and if we dont go that route we propably will get no more help here in our home province.
When we do come back or if we are at home Chris' care and costs will be our responsibility as the system here deems him untreatable and not worth persuing. They would like to sent him to a home to eat and sleep with no further therapy or help, mainly beacause of no money and a rehab doctor that has refused to look at or take part in Chris' treatment.

All I can say is that Christopher has more care and knowledge even in his temporary state than most of these so called doctors that are treating him that has to be said tongue in cheek.

This week hyperbaric times will be afternoon at 400 if weather is good and early around 8-9 am if weather is wet, work dependant!!
Chris' mom will have Chris out next Sunday I do not have a time as of yet hopefully she will let me know and I can post it for those who may be wanting to go up on the weekend. I wiil attach a video and mor pistures and try to get back to update after todays session.

Thursday August 14th 2008

Hello everyone,
Hope I do not leave you lingering to long without updates.
We are awfully busy with Chris right now so this site will be updated when ever I can stay awake to update it.
Chris completed his 7th Hyperbaric treatment session today and is tolerating it well.
Anybody that can not make it up that often we would love to encourage you to do so now,
we are trying to note all little things that are changing for those of us that are there every day it is tough to see the little stuff that first starts out.
The doctor at VGH hyperbaric suggested that we ask those who do not see Chris every day to stop by and notice the subtle changes that we might miss. The little things are very hard to determine and very important to note and document.

The hospital is now on a mission to move Chris out, and are not being very nice.
We are selective to where he might go, they coundn't care less in the interm while we are looking for a house that will work and allow for all that is needed as well as visiting that is open and more friendly and relaxed than the hospital.
Will have to address this at a later date may need everyones and more..... support in lobbying MLA's or MP's for thier help.

Chris will be starting massage therapy by next week and we will try to bring it all together with hyperbaric, accupunture, massage and physio and still have visiting time.
Right now is a great and very helpful if all could be there in small numbers so the conversation is directed at Chris with all he is enduring it seem only the voices of friends and family is needed right now to remind him of all the memories and stories we all shared with him.
We must keep his senses alive and overwhelmed with nurturing. the next few months will be crucial to his recovery.
We are also talking with a rehab center in Ponoka Alberta about a possible stint for Chris, our goverment and health system has no where for him to go to help except long term care facility with no further help. I will keep posting updates as they occur.
More photo's and video of Hyperbaric Chamber to follow.
Good Night All

Sunday August 10

Hello again,

In starting out today, I would like to thank Kathleen for sending me a link to a site that recharged my batteries and made all the work seem effortless after watching it.
I will add a link here so everyone can watch it, please allow at least 20 minutes if you dont have the time dont start it until you do. It really shows that all things are possible if you just work hard at it keep your faith.

The link is http://www.harchhyperbarics.com/video.htm so please check it out and then leave a comment so we can see how the rest of you feel. Sometimes, no allot of the time it gets lonely and you feel like everyone has moved on and we keep slipping into the abyss. The days are long and hard but all I have to do is look at Christopher and now how much he is loved and what a special person he is and all the frustration is wiped out.

Saturday was Chris' second Hyperbaric treatment we will go again on Monday for a single treatment at 400 pm so we will be gone from hospital between 300pm to 600pm.

Tuesday Shelley will have him out from 830am until 1000am for accupunture.
Then I will have him out from 1130am until 600pm asa we will start double Hyperbaric treatments all week long Tuesday to Saturday also Shelley will have him to accupunture on Friday morning 830am to 1000am.
It will be a crazy week but cross your fingers and think about Chris he really could use some and all the positive energy we can muster. I will to to post a few pictures on this site of Chris in the Chamber. thanks everyone..

HYPERBARIC UPDATE

Hello everyone, sorry for the missing days, been a busy week.
Chris is doing Acupuncture on Tuesdays and Fridays at 5.00 pm so he is usually gone from 4:30 to 6:00 pm.
We are currently setting up massge therapy for twice to work with the other treatments, as it is important to get all the senses going as close together so they work on the body jointly.
Chris is starting Hyperbaric chamber therapy on Thursday starting at 2:00 pm. So we will be away from the Hospital from 1:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

WHEN WE KNOW THE SCHEDULE FOR HYPERBARIC TREATMENTS WE WILL POST THEM.

Any of you downtown or in Vancouver may want to meet up if we do the two sessions a day, we will have a 4 hour break in between treatments. Right now they are looking at about 60 treatments and then see how things progress. It is quite exciting to see all the possibilities around us.
Please remember that all the company and visitors are greatly appreciated by Chris and family.
Kevin has worked a deal on a Wheelchair van to get Chris out and about and away from the hospital more often. It has opened up all kinds of freedom to teatment being able to move around and go where we want for teatment rather to where we were able to walk!!!!!
Chris went to acupunture on Tuesday then over to u Roberts and Helens for dinner and a relaxing sleep in the shade in the back yard so much more enjoyable than that damn Hospital setting.
We are planning on taking him home more often to spend time away. Any one who wants to visit while at home just let us know. We know quite a few of you do not like the hospital so here is your chance.
We will be updating with photo's and treatment updates as they occur stay tuned.
